Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Remit, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract to use Remit. Remit is intended for use by self-employed healthcare independent contractors and similar professionals — not by patients, employees using an employer's payroll system, or minors.
3. Description of service
Remit is a compensation tracking tool for healthcare independent contractors. It helps you calculate expected pay, record payments, track outstanding balances, and generate reports. Remit is not an accounting, tax, or legal service, and its output is not professional advice.
4. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter.
- Keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Do not use Remit for any unlawful purpose.
- Remit's calculations are estimates based on the rules you configure. Always verify with your practice and accountant.
5. Patient information — prohibited uploads
Remit is not intended for, and must not be used to store, transmit, or process patient health information (PHI). You must redact or remove all patient identifiers — including names, chart or medical record numbers, dates of birth, contact information, and any other information from which a patient could be identified — from any daysheet, production report, photo, or file you upload. Remit is designed to process only your compensation data (service codes, quantities, dollar amounts, and billing periods).
You are solely responsible for ensuring uploaded content is de-identified. If we detect that PHI has been uploaded, we may delete the file, notify you, or, in serious or repeated cases, suspend your account. Remit is not a HIPAA-covered entity or a business associate under HIPAA, and is not a health information custodian under PHIPA or equivalent provincial law.
6. AI-generated content
AI features (contract parsing, report analysis, chat, support assistant) are provided as a convenience. AI output may contain errors, misinterpretations, or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated pay rules, line items, calculations, or answers before relying on them. AI processing is performed via third-party providers (currently Anthropic) as described in our privacy policy.
7. Accounts and billing
Remit offers a free trial followed by a paid subscription. Prices are listed on the pricing page in USD or CAD. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Settings — you keep access until the end of your paid period. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified; we do not receive or store your full card number.
8. Sub-processors
To operate Remit we rely on a limited set of third-party services (currently Neon, Vercel, Anthropic, Resend, and Stripe). The current sub-processor list, along with each provider's role and jurisdiction, is maintained in our privacy policy. We will update the list before adding a new sub-processor with access to your personal data.
9. Intellectual property
You own your data. We do not claim ownership of anything you enter into Remit. We own the Remit software, brand, and design. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the service to you.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Remit is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Remit will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Remit and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of income, profit, or data. We are not liable for financial, tax, or business decisions made based on Remit's calculations, reports, or AI output. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) CAD $100.
12. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, upload prohibited content (including PHI), or are used for abuse. On deletion, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of Remit after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute arising out of these terms or your use of Remit will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
